v266 Conversation Ending Context 🏁

"End of line." - Master Control Program, Tron 🤖
SentiOne Automate version 266 was released on 24.09.2026. This release brings the conversation ending context out of preview, lets users end conversations from Chat Tester, adds finished-conversation filtering to the Public API, and simplifies the WebChat embedded API.

Conversation Ending Context

The conversation ending context is now generally available. A dedicated context runs whenever a conversation finishes, no matter how it ended:

  • The bot ends it — the ending context runs synchronously as the flow completes
  • The user ends it — triggered when the user abandons the conversation in WebChat, when LiveChat deactivates the chat, or when a voice call is summarised
  • It expires — the ending context runs for inactive sessions before they are cleaned up

The reason a conversation ended (end of flow, user inactivity, user hangup) is exposed in AEL, so the ending context can branch on it. Responses produced there are not sent to the user but are recorded in Analytics, where the session status and termination reason are now stored and available for filtering. Messages from the ending context are marked distinctly in the conversation view, and errors occurring in this context are shown in the Conversations module rather than being swallowed by the error-handling context.

End Conversation from Chat Tester

Chat Tester now has a dedicated "end conversation" action, separate from resetting the session. Messages sent after the conversation ends are marked accordingly, and the result of the ending context is returned in debug info — so the whole ending path can be tested without leaving the panel.

Conversation Ended Notification in WebChat

When an agent ends a handover conversation and the bot cannot continue it, the widget is now notified immediately. Users see a clear "conversation ended" state with the input blocked and an option to start a new conversation, instead of silently typing into a conversation that is already over. Session expiry due to inactivity remains a separate, distinct state.

Finished Conversations in the Public API

The conversation search endpoint can now filter by conversation state, making it possible to run periodic jobs that collect finished conversations without gaps or duplicates:

  • Status filter — active or finished
  • finishedAt range filter, alongside the existing start-time range, which is now optional
  • End reason filter — end of flow, user inactivity, and other termination reasons
  • finishedAt and session status added to the conversation model, and message type (user message or conversation ending) added to messages

Simplified WebChat Embedded API

The WebChat embedded API has been simplified: host pages now provide configuration through the window object instead of sending custom postMessage events to the widget. This makes embedding considerably easier to reason about and less error-prone.

Upgrade note: host pages using the previous postMessage-based configuration need to be updated. See the WebChat documentation for the new configuration shape.

One-Time Carousel Buttons

Carousel buttons can now be configured as one-time click, so a button cannot be pressed again once the user has moved past the carousel. This prevents empty messages being sent into a conversation that has already progressed. The Welcome Screen author input also gained explicit visibility control — always shown, never shown, or driven by the author field in the channel configuration.

Improved Dictation in WebChat

The dictate mechanism no longer stops recording the moment the user pauses, so speech can be dictated naturally with pauses. Re-enabling dictation preserves what is already in the input field instead of clearing it.

💊 IMPROVEMENTS

  • [Flow] Conversation ending context generally available for bot-ended, user-ended, and expired conversations
  • [Flow] Conversation end reason exposed in AEL for branching in the ending context
  • [Conversations] Session status and termination reason stored and filterable; ending-context messages marked distinctly
  • [Chat Tester] Dedicated end conversation action with ending-context result in debug info
  • [WebChat] Widget notified when an agent ends a conversation without bot continuation
  • [WebChat] Simplified embedded API — configuration passed via window instead of postMessage events
  • [WebChat] One-time click configuration for carousel buttons
  • [WebChat] Configurable visibility of the Welcome Screen author input
  • [WebChat] Dictation supports pausing and preserves existing input when re-enabled
  • [API] Filter conversations by status, finish time, and end reason for gap-free periodic exports
  • [Mobile] Immediate heartbeat on subscribe, so the SDK knows at once when it is safe to resync after reconnecting
  • [Mobile] Optional mode keeping the event stream alive when the client access token expires
  • [Mobile] ASR and TTS audio from mobile voice sessions recorded and attached to the analytics session
  • [Knowledge Base] Clearer naming for spreadsheet connectors, with XLSX support stated explicitly
  • [UI] Redesigned flow import modal showing project and context names clearly
  • [UI] Project list tooltips and row icons aligned and sized consistently
  • [UI] Neutral icon for the conversation ending context, no longer implying voice-only use

🐛 FIXES

  • [Knowledge Base] Uploading a file to an existing document now reindexes the whole document instead of only the changed rows; re-uploading an identical file no longer leaves the document in a failed state

  • [UI] Flows and NLU of a project created through the Public API now open without a page refresh

  • [LLM] Streaming setting "None" is now persisted correctly in LLM Say

  • [LLM] Temperature is no longer sent to models that do not support it

  • [Chat Tester] String values in nested JSON objects are no longer broken across lines

  • [Flow] Fixed flows failing to run on projects created in earlier versions

  • [NLU] Fixed classification errors on utterances containing multiple intents

  • [NLU] Entity recognition rebuilt on a maintained runtime, resolving known vulnerabilities
